Orphan Fansubs presents a new version of the 2008 Bakumatsu-era historical fantasy Amatsuki. This is a new R2J encode, at the proper frame rate, by guest encoder Iznjie Biznjie, with FLAC audio. The subtitles are derived from the previous Orphan-Ureshii release but have been restyled, tweaked, and given additional QC. For more information, see this blog entry.

why is the encode resolution 870 by 480? theres some severe artifacted banding, doesnt that resulting non-standard PAR exacerbate that?

The resolution doesn’t affect the colour banding, it’s merely scaled to that to make the TS’ life easier, lol.
But yes, the DVDs have much colour banding. :D
