**Title**: Steins;Gate (Season 1 + OVA + Movie) HEVC 10bit SoftSubbed - 1920 x 1080 Encoded by: EoE **Source**: [ITBD Remux](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1348397) + JPBD (*a lot of* GIB) **Audio**: Japanese - English **Subtitles**: English[Full - Signs/Songs] (PGS) - English(Steins;Sub/Commie/WhyNot) - Italian **Note from the encoder**: Hey all, EoE here. I'm gonna be honest, I've stalled *hard* on this one. Almost as hard as with Fate. Part of that is laziness, but at least some of it was just because of how much effort was put into this release. This is by far the most ambitious script ever written for any Judas project, going through at least 5 revisions and a lot of re runs. I'm still not perfectly happy with it, but for a mini encode, it's more than good enough. I will release a full blog post detailing the methods used for this when I release my personal bloated version (script still incomplete, I think I'm on v7 by now?), but here's a short rundown. There are two "good" sources for Steins;Gate - the JPBD and the ITBD. I've seen the ITBD cited a lot as the "best," due to Dynit's debanding, however the debanding has steamrolled over some gradient details and fine lineart present in the JPBD. Therefore, the best source would be a combination of the two. I ran a motion compensated denoise (using vectors from the less grainy JPBD for accuracy) over both, before averaging and merging low frequency details from the JPBD and medium frequency details from the ITBD for as good a source as is reasonably possible. After some standard descaling, denoising, aa and dehaloing, was some pretty horrible debanding. This is the main thing that has been changed in later versions of the script, and as such is not perfect here, though given the low bitrate, bands were inevitable anyway. Regardless, I hope that this lives up to Reza's expectations. If you too would like an ultra high quality, ultra late mini encode, please do drop us a donation - every show we take costs a lot in both man hours and encoding time, and therefore any generosity is appreciated. Cheers :) [Request an anime or get DDL links @ Discord](https://discord.gg/vbJ7RTn) **[If you like this release please seed]** ![gg](https://i.ibb.co/0yG7fWH/vlcsnap-00004.png) ![wp](https://i.ibb.co/5kR2X3v/vlcsnap-00005.png) ![ez](https://i.ibb.co/CQKHP4S/vlcsnap-00006.png)

Seeing this makes me irrationally happy, as I was just looking to upgrade my steins gate from an old kissanime download, thanks as always Judas!
I've been waiting for this for days, tysm Judas ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Waiting for EoE bloated encode ;(
Can't say I ever truly understood the point in putting so much effort into filtering and mixing sources for "quality" only to void all of that effort by starving the encode of bitrate required to maintain said quality.
Nice Mr Judas i appreciate your effort since you even started encoding as well as many other groups thank you for your efforts all
Dear ChaoXide, I'm sorry that the encodes the Judas team releases are not of the same quality standards that you hold. Are you able to provide screenshot comparisons of what you would call "good quality" compared to Judas's release? As a person who only looks for the utmost quality in releases, you surely would know that filtering is a very important part of a quality release and also know quite a bit on stuff like proper denoising and grain-retention. With that said, if you don't mind, could you give them some insight on how to properly filter their stuff? I'm sure they would love to know your thoughts on image reconstruction using DWT's and their synthesis filter banks since this is one of the only ways to truly retain detail in images/videos. As someone who is currently studying computer science and working on a parallel processing project in regards to proper denoising and image restoration, I would love to hear what you have to say about all of this....maybe you can teach everybody a thing or two since you're pretty well versed in quality releases! ;) Cheers, Weasel
> Are you able to provide screenshot comparisons of what you would call “good quality” compared to Judas’s release? pls
@weasel42351 They implied that the filtering isn't what upsets them. They explained that the filtering is acceptable, but the encode settings (low bitrate) counterbalances the benefits of the filters, producing gradient banding that wouldn't be present in a higher bitrate encode.
@VoidsShadow Yes I understand they were talking about the encoding settings specifically but the problem is that while steins;gate might specifically need a higher bitrate, it is implicitly stated that this is not the only encode that is ruined in quality when ChaoXide said "Can’t say I ever truly understood the point". 1) EoE admitted it's not perfect in the description by saying "...and as such is not perfect here, though given the low bitrate, bands were inevitable anyway." So why regurgitate information 2) The way ChaoXide presented his comment was in a more negative connotation which is uncalled for, for a group that spends their time/resources/money to help out others. 3) Judas is known for being a mini-encoder. It doesn't make sense for them to cater to a different target audience just for a show or two. 4) There are ways to do real-time debanding on video playback if you are that into quality. The reason why I went into filtering on my comment was because ChaoXide seems to have a certain standard for "quality" which you would never be able to get to without filtering. And I can guarantee you that he has no idea on even where to start for filtering. I understand that you don't necessarily need to know how to do everything in order to judge if something lives up to a certain standard, but I do expect you to know all of your stuff when you come into a chat of sorts uninvited and trash on someones work. I mean there's people in the Judas discord server who have already said they prefer other releases and that's fine but to say on an official release page that Judas is ruining the release by bitstarving it and saying the process of getting different sources and filtering them are for "quality" which is very heavily implied in a sarcastic manner, just doesn't sit right with me. Cheers, Weasel

@ChaoXide It still *does* make a difference though, and whilst it can be regarded as a waste of effort, I quite enjoy the challenge of making an encode look as good as possible within a reasonable filesize limit. And regardless, if for releases like this were I put in a lot of effort, I also release a bloated version, then I see no problems.
Thanks a lot! U are the best!
So, about those bloated releases... have you uploaded them on a different tracker before, or will this be the first?
Thanks Judas, really appreciate your releases! Minor note, on episode 8 the audio tracks are flipped and coded/labeled wrong. The English track appears first but is coded Japanese and labeled "[Judas] JAP Stereo (Opus 112Kbps)" (with the second really being the Japanese). Every other file the English track is second and labeled correctly.
@wordless: You're right! Thanks for pointing that out. I usually remove the jpn tracks from these, & had accidentally removed the eng track :l
WTF, are people watching on 8K monitors with a magnifying glass or what? If you don't like it, move on and get another release. It's perfectly fine. Thanks for great job encoding this great anime.
**appreciation* ![Eru-Ibara-300](https://i.postimg.cc/kXbpqPD2/300.gif)
Thanks for the release. This would have be even greater if ep23b is included. (Steins;Gate Kyoukaimenjou no Missing Link - Divide By Zero)
Great encode for a mini, thanks! <3
Worst anime ever created, holy it's awful. Obnoxious characters, bad writing and an overall boring story. 12 episodes of filler. Big Yikes.
@oraleous15 get filtered tourist

friendly reminder stein's gate 0 aka season 2 is non-canon slop and only the original is good and worth watching, desu.
