Orphan presents the first English-subtitled version of the 1990 comedy (or dramedy) OVA Kimama ni Idol (Free-Spirited Idols). Part screwball comedy, part melodrama, the show tells the story of two teenagers, Haruka and Natsuki, who win a lottery and run off to Tokyo to enjoy life. There, they meet a third girl, Fumiko, and decide to form an idol group and break into show biz. It’s not cheap, it’s not easy, and at times, it’s not safe. VHS encode. For more information, see this blog entry.
Includes a 90 second promo for the show’s soundtrack, not translated.
This release, and all Orphan releases, are available for direct download from IRC bot Orphan|Arutha in channels #nibl or #news on irc.rizon.net.

Thank you!

This one seems really interesting, especially the human trafficking angle with it going hand in hand with showbiz.

Thanks again it was a crazy ova and a good critic about the idol industry at the same time. I always love your release!

Oh man, it sucks that VHS sucks so much but is sadly our only source for some of these. LD really was better.
