Orphan presents a new encode of the 1992 sci-fi OVA Wolf Guy. The first release used two different encodes, ripped on two different laserdisc players, resulting in noticeable color differences between episodes 1-3 and 4-6. This version was ripped with the Domesday Duplicator, which removes player color variability from the equation, and encoded uniformly. The scripts are basically unchanged. See this blog entry for more information.
If the color variability of the first release doesn’t bother you, there’s no need to download this one. On the other hand, if you’ve never watched Wolf Guy, you’re in for a treat. It’s an action-packed sci-fi adventure about a four-sided battle between immortal wolf-men, an Evil Cabal™ trying to steal their secret of immortality, Chinese Intelligence’s Tiger Corps (immortal were-tigers) trying to stop them, and Japanese Cabinet Intelligence trying to fight everyone else. With characters changing shapes, faces, and sides, it’s a sometimes confusing but always compelling story.
This release, and all Orphan releases, are available for direct download from IRC bot Orphan|Arutha in channels #nibl or #news on irc.rizon.net.
