Filtering: SSIM downscaling, denoising, AA, edge cleaning, debanding,…
Fixed color primaries from the WEB batch, which is now hidden.
Filesize of the encodes stayed approx. the same, but the overall quality is slightly improved from the WEB batch. Enjoy this 31 subs release which took me ages to properly sync and mux and check.
For the best playback experience, use preferably MPV, or MPC-HC with the K-Lite Codec Pack.

Thanks so much! All in such a small size too.

This is what I call a complete release! All the good subs are included, all languages too. Optional multi-language audio files too.
Requesting you to please release this in 1080p.
One more thing: if there’s any BAT or XDELTA to automate the process of muxing only the specific downloaded language optional audio for a batch of files, kindly invest some time in learning that. It’ll make life much easier for newbies who can only double click on a file to open.

Improving on the previous 720p batch was fairly easy since there was room for improvement, but doing the same for a new 1080p release is another story…There is more progress update on the discord server, but in a nutshell I have been working on the 1080p since before even starting the 720p encodes but even after countless test encodes I’m not happy enough with the results to call them a clear improvement over the existing batch. Currently trying a different approach with the filtering right now.
As for audio patches, I used to do it for some releases, but until I can automate the process itself of creating those patches, I fear I can’t bother to make them manually anymore.

720P YUV420 is an unsuitable resolution and chroma subsampling to scale to given your input of 1080P YUV420.
The original chroma resolution is 960×540 and 720P YUV420 reduces it to 640×360 .
Better would be to leave the chroma resolution the same and halve the luma resolution. That way you avoid any interpolation of the chroma. You may find it encodes faster also.
That is, transcode it to 960×540 YUV444 , in which both the luma and chroma resolutions are 960×540.
One input chroma pixel becomes one chroma output and luma of an even 4 pixels transcode to a single output pixel.
You may find then that you can spare processing to transcode to AV1, which is substantially more efficient than HEVC/H265 and is an open codec. Decode time for AV1 on PCs recently improved.

@Hogoledo while this may be a good idea in terms of the perfect scenario for the best quality pixels, it would unfortunately break compatibility with hardware decoders such as TVs that have av1 support and can’t handle 444.

That would also be forgeting that AV1 4:4:4 encoding isn’t very strong and that only aomenc supports it if I’m not mistaken. But AV1 is pretty good at chroma quality anyway, this is not a concern at all with this codec. In theory what you say makes a lot of sense, but practically, it isn’t very useful. Especially considering the target audience and target filesize here.

Here are scripts to automatically add the dub files of a specific language to either one of my 720p or 1080p releases:

3 scripts are available for each language:
Some more explanations in usage.txt, including how to customize the scripts if you want to a different result.
