All of the title / insert cards turned out heavily aliased with noticeable stepping compared to FFF.

Normal scenes do appear to retain a bit more detail and better just by virtue of not being cropped though, thanks.

@Mabby Thanks for the feedback but I am very careful with excessive AA now. FFF’s anti-aliasing showed to be destructive in multiple scenes, rather avoid that.

No audio commentary unlike VCB (https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1171157). Video is much better than FFF but IMO worse (as in, less truthful to the JPBD) than VCB: https://slow.pics/c/bVskjgLR

@Capsizer Audio commentary is quite literally useless for a subbed release when the commentary is not subbed. VCB-Studio might be “more truthful to the JPBD” considering they haven’t fixed the artifacts in the video. They still have dirty lines, halos and ringing caused by the upscaling. Their rescale was wrong which is why halos are still present, their debanding is very destructive (despite the series barely suffering from any banding at all), they nuked grain almost entirely (e.g. the wall at the right in your linked comp) and they haven’t handled the broken chroma (refer to the bowneckties at the right side of the comp you linked). Haven’t checked their release but the fact episode 11 on their end is only 1.1GB with 2x 24-bit FLAC tracks indicates they’re utterly starving the video of bitrate and are actually less truthful to the JPBD by removing important background details. In some cases it might look like their image is cleaner but it’s literally just degrained.

I don’t have the JPBD at hand right now after cleaning up my local disk since uploading this torrent, so here’s a comp with some frames in episode 11 (smol vs VCB-Studio) highlighting this issue with VCB-Studio - click here: SPOILER WARNING. Another notable issue is comp 6 (blocking near Miki’s face) which is clear in every dark scene. If you prefer to watch their release, go ahead, but it’s objectively worse…
