Orphan presents the first English-subtitled version of the 1985 OVA Toraemon (Tiger Man). This show lampoons the 1985 Hanshin Tigers, who won their first Japan Baseball Championship that year, as well as all their crazed celebrity fans. The humor is broad, and the satire ranges from affectionate to downright libelous. It’s impossible to understand all the local references - although I tried to provide a guide in this blog entry - but if you’re prepared to let it just wash over you, it’s quite funny.
