It's also the largest foreign holder of US debt. Earlier this month, major credit ratings agency Standard & Poor's downgraded the US debt, jeopardizing the country's economic outlook and triggering declines in stock prices. During Vice President Biden's visit, China urged the US to solve its debt problem, while asserting confidence about its own continued economic growth. But in fact, China has problems of its own, not the least of which is worsening inflation.
