Here’s a new version of Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo movie 1, from an HDTV broadcast. It is “full 480p” (848x480), versus the original laserdisc-based release, which was 640x480 with horizontal letterboxing (effectively 640x352).

This release is labeled “v0” because (a) there’s a terrible video glitch at 35:20, probably caused by a problem with the satellite transmission and (b) it lacks the hokey preview for the second movie that was at the end of the laserdisc.

If anyone has a better raw, or an uncorrupted transport stream of this broadcast, Orphan will do a “v1” release. Meanwhile, enjoy Kindaichi sans letterboxing!
